Three new faces are in the national T20 team that will take on Trinidad and Tobago at the Guyana National Stadium on September 6 and 7.
Former West Indies Under-19 opener Trevon Griffith, Demerara Cricket Club’s pinch hitter Andrew Lyght Jr., and former Guyana Under-19 all-rounder Kellon Carmichael received the selectors’ nod in a 13-man team named yesterday.
The selectors also recalled opening batsman Shemroy Barrington while pacer Paul Wintz is back after an injury he received in South Africa last year at the Airtel Champions League tournament.
The 13-man squad reads: Shemroy Barrington, Trevon Griffith, Narsingh
Deonarine, Steven Jacobs, Christopher Barnwell, Royston Crandon, Jonathan Foo, Derwin Christian, Paul Wintz, Devendra Bishoo, Assad Fudadin, Andrew Lyght Jr., and Kellon Carmichael.
The stand-by players are: Anthony Bramble, Rajiv Ivan, Leon Johnson, Amir Khan and Raj Nanan.Royston Crandon and Chris Barnwell are the leading candidates for the position of captain which is expected to be announced shortly.
