BIRMINGHAM, England, CMC – Shiv Chanderpaul’s rich vein of County Championship form for Warwickshire continued yesterday when he stroked an unbeaten half-century in a drawn game against Yorkshire.
The veteran West Indies left-hander, who stroked 110 in the first innings, finished unbeaten on 56 as the hosts reached 214 for three in pursuit of 349 for victory at Edgbaston. Yorkshire, trailing on first innings by 37, were dismissed in their second innings for 385 after resuming the fourth day on 319 for five.
Warwickshire quickly slipped to 89 for three in their run chase before Chanderpaul against frustrated them in century stand with captain Jim Troughton (62 not out).
Chanderpaul hit five fours and two sixes off 77 balls as he added an unbroken 125 for the fourth wicket, forcing the game towards a tame draw.
The 37-year-old Guyanese now has 360 runs from five innings at an average of 90.
