Trinidad and Tobago begin their preparation as the Caribbean representative in this year Champions League Twenty20 tournament in India scheduled to commence on September 19th, with the opening of two practice games today and another one tomorrow at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Bourda.
Last year when Guyana represented the region in South Africa, Trinidad also came here to aid in the local side preparation with two (2) practice games at the national stadium. So in a sense the Guyanese are returning the favour to the boys from the twin island republic.
The Guyana has three (3) first-time Twenty20 calls up in Former West Indies Under-19 opener Trevon Griffith, Demerara Cricket Club’s pinch hitter Andrew Lyght Jr., and former Guyana Under-19 all-rounder Kellon Carmichael.
Trinidad, who play their first game of the tournament on September 20th against 2011 English T20 champions Leicestershir, will be without Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo who chose to represent their Indian Premier League (IPL) Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
The Trinidadians were expected in last night and today’s game begins at 2pm.
