Police are investigating an armed robbery, which took place yesterday morning in the vicinity of Saffon and Sussex streets, Charlestown, during which taxi driver Andrew David was attacked and robbed by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
According to a police release, investigations revealed that at around 8:40 am David was driving his motor vehicle PJJ 8837 along Sussex Street, and upon stopping at Saffon Street he was accosted by the perpetrators on two motorcycles. They held him at gunpoint and took away his motor car and $300, 000, after which they made good their escape.
The release said the car was recovered, with everything intact, at about 9:10am yesterday at Sussex and Callender streets, Albouystown.
The car is currently in the compound of the Ruimveldt Police Station.
A robbery of a similar nature took place on August 31 in the vicinity of Conversation Tree, where two businessmen were accosted while in their vehicle by armed bandits and robbed of $4M.
