A 67-year-old man was on Sunday evening fatally struck down by a speeding car along the Stanleytown Public Road, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Michael Carrington was pronounced dead on arrival at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, police indicated in a press release.
Enquiries have disclosed that motor vehicle PJJ 9910 was allegedly speeding along the road when Carrington made an attempt to cross the road, leading to his death.
Police are said to be investigating the death of the Stanleytown resident while the driver remains in police custody, assisting with the investigations.
