Kuntiedai Singh’s driver’s licence has been suspended, pending the determination of a causing death by dangerous driving charge that she is currently facing.
According to a police press release, Singh, of 12 Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following an accident that occurred on February 26, 2011 at Lamaha and Camp streets, Georgetown, which resulted in the death of motorcyclist Nigel Glen.
As a consequence, her driver’s licence has been suspended pending the outcome of the matter, the release said.
Singh appeared in court on July 27 and was released on self bail after the prosecution said she had the right-of-way when she allegedly hit Glen, a nurse of Barr Street, Kitty, George-town.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar had told the court that on the day in question, at about 5pm, Singh was proceeding north along Camp Street when she collided with Glen, who was proceeding west along Lamaha Street on his motorcycle.
Pindar said that Singh was “driving through the green traffic light, which she had gotten,” when she collided with Glen. Glen was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed.
