Two men who were charged for robbery under arms and possession of firearm and ammunition without licence were remanded to prison after they appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine–Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation is that on September 4 at Cross Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown, Tony Ogle and John Blake, being armed with a gun, robbed Jennela Burke of $51,000 in cash, two gold chains valued $68,000, one Nokia cell phone valued $20,000 and two gold finger rings valued $28,000, amounting to a total of $167,000, property of the said Burke.
It is also alleged that the defendants on the same day, being armed with a gun, also robbed Burke of one Motorola cell phone valued $39,000, property of Nigel Sulton.
Ogle, 34, who resides at Lot 86 Sideline Dam, Beterverwagting (BV) was also charged with several other offences which include possession of firearm and ammunition without licence and discharging live rounds.
The allegations against the miner is that on September 4 at Hunter Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, Ogle had in his possession a .38 revolver and four live rounds of ammunition and two .38 spent shells without being the holder of a firearm licence in force at the time.
The man who was not required to plead to the indictable charges when they were read to him.
He was further charged for allegedly discharging a loaded firearm on Septem-ber 4 at Quincy Smith and Vernon Harding with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm to them.
Twenty-six-year-old Blake who resides at Lot 3086 North Ruimveldt and Ogle are expected to return to court on October 24 at Court Five.
