Following protests staged by parents of students, the Golden Grove Secondary School will be closed today and tomorrow, to facilitate infrastructural repairs in an effort to make it functional.
The decision was made when the school’s PTA executives met with regional officers yesterday at the Democratic council office Triumph to discuss a way forward. David Gentle, PTA executive, informed SN that both parties reached a consensus after the second meeting was held with officials at the RDC office.
He added that beginning today contractors will attempt to repair areas in the school identified as being most crucial. He further added that if these works were not achieved over the weekend the PTA would seek counsel with the Minister of Education on Monday and if still no action is taken will attempt to close the school.
Parents and students on Monday last protested the lack of furniture and the deplorable condition of the school citing that even after the two months summer vacation no repairs were done to the school.
