Port Mourant Karibee Rice, Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets and Edinburgh emerged victorious on Sunday in the 2011 Tenelec Inc., first-division limited overs round-robin competition when three of the four scheduled second round matches were played.
The match between Young Warriors and Skeldon Community Centre being postponed due to the unavailability of the Skeldon team.
At Port Mourant, Port Mourant Karibee Rice beat Police ‘B’ Division by six wickets. The match was reduced to 46 overs-a-side due to pitch preparation moisture. Police won the toss and batted first with Don Farley scoring 46 and Philbert Willbourgh 36.
Bowling for Port Mourant, Essequibo left arm-spinner Robert Moore bagged five for 28 from eight overs; off spinner Devendra Thakurdeen two for 16 from 3.5 overs and former Berbice Under-19 off spinner Rajendra Bolo two for 42 from 10 overs.
Moore, who is playing in his first season for the team, helped bowl out Police for 152 after an opening stand of 60 between Farley (46) and Winston Rose (13).
Moore helped reduce Police from 81 for three to 148 for eight while Thakurdeen pitched in by cleaning up the last two wickets.
In Port Mourant’s reply, they lost former Guyana Under-19 batsman Moshin Perkhan early with the score on nine but Shameer Khan made 51 (five fours and one six) and Shastri Persaud, 43, dominated the law men to gain victory. Bowling for Police pacer Michael Newland picked up two for 38 from nine overs and off spinner Andel De Jonge had two for 47 runs from his nine overs.
Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets defeated Memorex Bermine by 103 runs.
Batting first, Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets were on the ropes at 118-6 in the 26th over before a 90-run seventh wicket partnership between Neil Williams and Khemraj Mahadeo steered the team to 265-8 in 47 overs.
Mahadeo was unbeaten on 53 while Renwick Batson made 41, Williams 40 and Clinton Pestano 20.
In reply, Memorex Bermine were dismissed for 162 in 37.2 overs with Anthony d’Andrade,44, Romario De Jonge Shephered,37, Eugene La Fleur,29 and Keion De Jesus, 20, the principal scorers.
Williams grabbed 4-30 and Rajiv Ivan 3-7.
At Edinburgh, the home team defeated Blairmont Community Centre by 94 runs.
Edinburgh, batting first, made 181 all out with Shafik Khan top scoring with 49.
Yudrunauth Seepersaud, 26, Chris Yadram,25 and Danny David, 23 were also among the runs.
Medium pacer Deveshwari Persaud bagged 3-38, left arm spinner Parmanand Ramdhan 2-6 and Akhram Rahaman 2-36 were the wicket takers.
Blairmont, in reply fell for 87 in the 22nd over with Persaud’s 21 the top score as Mark Sampson grabbed 4-28 and Vishal Mahabir 3-23.
Raid Ali chipped in with 2-6 from four overs.
