The Agape Network is hosting a two-day workshop next week in preparation for the launch of its ‘Harmony Project’.
In a press release Project Coordinator Shondell France said the group is currently implementing ‘The Harmony Project’ which is funded by USAID’s Governance Enhancement Project. It focuses on promoting harmony among youth in six communities: Sophia, Cummings Lodge, Buxton, Beterverwagting, Hope and Rosignol.
The meeting, which is set for September 12 and 13 at the CIDA building will launch the community activities that youth will embark on for the duration of the project. In the first phase of the project 24 youth will be trained at the workshop. They will thereafter embark on “various creative and exciting projects which they will design” and which will be implemented in their and other communities. The meeting will be held from 8.30am to 4pm both days.
France said the group has been serving communities for the past six years and much of its work has included reaching youth through in-school and out-of-school programmes in Sophia and along the East Coast. The project will give the youth a chance to learn by working with others and provides an opportunity for them to give back to their communities. For more information on the project France can be contacted at telephone numbers 219-2300 or 652-8616.
The Agape Network is located in Dennis Street, Sophia.
