A Brazilian woman was found murdered at Takutu Backdam, Region Eight on Saturday night and a man is in police custody assisting with investigations.
Police sources this afternoon identified the dead woman as 45-year-old Marie Alves Da Silva. According to reports the woman was found with a wound to the neck. The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear but a team of police ranks has been dispatched to the area to investigate.
The body is being transported to Lyken’s Funeral home.
There have been several murders in the E&F Division under which Takutu Backdam falls. Da Silva is the second woman to have been murdered.
On August 24, the bloodied body of Donna Lakeram was found in Semang, Issano. A post-mortem examination later revealed that she died as a result of strangulation and multiple trauma. A man has since been charged with her murder.
