LONDON, CMC – West Indies will face a slightly weakened England in their two Twenty20 Internationals later this month.
England T20 captain Stuart Broad will miss the series, following a muscle tear in his right shoulder.
“Stuart will require an initial period of rest and rehabilitation,” said England & Wales Cricket Board Chief Medical Officer Dr. Nick Peirce. “Exact timescales will be determined in due course, but he is likely to be ruled out of cricket for a number of weeks.”
Broad suffered the injury while bowling during the tied fourth One-day International against India on Sunday at Lord’s.
The lanky fast bowler may be fit to join the England squad for the Twenty20 fixture scheduled for 29 October in Kolkata.
Broad’s injury also meant that England will have to shop around for a news T20 captain, since left-handed batsman Eoin Morgan, his deputy, has also been sidelined with injury.
