BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Teenaged wicketkeeper/batsman Sunil Ambris has been named in a shortlist of 34 players to play in three trial matches for the Combined Campuses & Colleges ahead of the WICB Regional One-day competition.
The 18-year-old from St. Vincent & the Grenadines was one of the players that succeeded for the Windward Islands Under-19 side in this year’s WICB Regional Under-19 Championships in Guyana.
He toured the United States with the West Indies Under-19 side in July, and is also preparing to head to India with the regional youth team for a quadrangular tournament with Australia, Sri Lanka, and the hosts ahead of the Under-19 World Cup next year in Australia.
Former West Indies Under-19 leg-spinner Akeem Dewar from Jamaica has also been invited to the trials, along with former T&T Under-19 batsman Nicholas Alexis, little-known Dominican Esra Green, and T&T’s Marlon Richards.
About 11 players named among the Barbados trial contingent have also been included in the squad that will play trial matches on September 19, 21, and 23.
The WICB Regional Super50 competition is scheduled to be contested next month in Guyana.
