The Guyana Cultural Association of New York Inc. has joined the
Broadcasters of North America in extending condolences to the family
of former GBS staff member, Howard Allan Liverpool.
The association said that Liverpool was born on August 1, 1941 in Georgetown,
Guyana. After his primary schooling, the association said that he worked with the Guyana
Postal Service and later on pursued a career in the media and employed with the then
Guyana Broadcasting Service in the newsroom.
The association said that in his spare time he pursued his love of singing and music by joining
a band and later recording an album titled “She’s got my head in a Whirl”.
The association said that Allan migrated to the United States in the 70’s and at the time
of his illness was retired and working part-time for Classic Security.
Liverpool is survived by his sister Urma Joseph, brother,
Michael Liverpool, nieces, Eydie Hamada and Dierdre Harris, nephew, Raoul
Joseph and 12 great-nieces and nephews. He will be laid to rest on September 19, 2011 at the
International Funeral Home, 4123 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11232.
