Police have captured the suspect in the July murder of Pomeroon resident, Alexis Smith.
In a statement yesterday, the police said that the suspect was arrested last Friday at Warapana and remains in custody assisting with investigations. Smith, 43, of Warapana, Upper Pomeroon River was reported missing last July 26.
His body was subsequently found in the river at Aripiaco, Upper Pomeroon River, on July 29. An autopsy was done by government pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh who gave the cause of death as blunt trauma to the head and asphyxiation due to drowning, the police said.
