The Fruta Conquerors organised Milo Under-23 football competition has reached the knockout stage with the quarterfinal matches beginning this evening at the Tucville Playfield from 18:00 hours.
This 31st match of the competition will be played tonight between Santos FC and Georgetown Football Club (GFC) while the feature match will see host Fruta Conquerors clashing with Northern Rangers from 20:00 hours.
The next set of quarterfinal matches will be played next Wednesday between Flamingo and Beacons (18:00 hours) and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) against Police (20:00 hours) at the same venue.
Going into today’s games, Fruta Conquerors lead Group A with 13 points, followed by Santos (12), Beacon (10) and Police (6) while the Group B leader is GDF with 12 points.
Flamingo (8), GFC (7) and Northern Rangers (4) round out Group B.
Meanwhile, GFC defeated Northern Rangers 2-0 on Friday night in the final round robin matches with Courtney Britton netting a double in the 21st and 24th minute. GDF gained a walkover victory over Riddim Squad while Beacon needled Charlestown United with M. Stewart striking in the 42nd minute.
