The former Trinidad & Tobago and West Indies fast bowler was chosen in the 13-member Masters squad that will play against England Masters in the three-match Cricket Legends of Barbados Incorporated Challenge Cup series in November at Kensington Oval.
Organisers have announced that the annual Masters tournament, which has featured several former West Indies stars facing some of their old rivals has been scaled back this year because of the economic pinch.
“It was our vision to have a much expanded tournament this year for the CLOBI Cup World Masters tournament,” said CLOBI Chairman Ian Bradshaw.
“When we went to the market, and we spoke to our potential commercial partners and sponsors, we made a collective decision, that what we would do this year is not to have a World Masters Tournament.
He said: “Instead, we will have what we will call the CLOBI Challenge 2011 – a tournament staged between the West Indies team and our age-old rivals, the England team.”
Bradshaw said plans for the 2012 CLOBI Cup World Masters tournament were already in motion, and expected to attract teams like India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Australia.
The 37-year-old Dillon is the newest face to join the Masters’ ranks, along with Wavell Hinds, who recently hinted on television that he was ending his international career.
In an international career spanning 1997 and 2005, Dillon played 38 Tests taking 131 wickets at 33.57 runs apiece, and 108 One-day Internationals grabbing 130 scalps at 32.44 each.
