Kevin Verwin who is accused of murdering his reputed wife Farida ‘Suzie’ Ramdeen was yesterday committed to stand trial in the High Court.
The ruling was read by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry who found that there was enough evidence for the accused to stand trial at the High Court.
The accused, who seemed timid and emotional during the ruling, allegedly murdered Ramdeen between March 4 and 6 at Houston, East Bank Demerara.
The woman who lived at Lot 20 Vreed-en-Hoop Squatting Area, West Coast Demerara, was found dead in a Houston, East Bank Demerara trench. It is alleged that the deceased and her reputed husband Verwin had left their WCD home on March 4 to visit an aunt who resides in Albouystown when the man decided to change his plans and caught a car bound for Houston instead. At Houston the accused allegedly ordered Ramdeen to accompany him to a dam and subsequently her body was found in a nearby trench.
