The Women’s Affairs Bureau hosted an interactive session on Tuesday at the Ministry of Agriculture as part of a series of planned sessions on gender awareness in ministries and corporations.
The sessions are held under the theme ‘Promoting Gender Equality’. They aim to boost capacity of government officials to mainstream gender and gender issues into policies and programmes planned for the respective ministries and corporations.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release, Agriculture Minister Robert Persaud welcomed the sessions.
He told his staff that he expects them to implement what they have learned and to pass on the knowledge to other stakeholders in the sector; including those in the fields such as farmers, producers and all stakeholders that operate within the value added commodity chain.
