The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) will hold its Annual Awards and Appreciation Ceremony today at the club’s pavilion, Lance Gibbs and New Garden streets, Queenstown, commencing at 6:30 pm.
The event is aimed at honouring and rewarding the club’s cricketers, especially the youths, for their outstanding performances during the season.
President of DCC and Vice President of the Guyana Cricket Board, Alfred Mentore, is scheduled to deliver the feature address.
During the ceremony this year, several under-13, under-15, under-17 and under-19 cricketers, including those who participated in the club’s cricket camp last month, will be awarded prizes and certificates.
Among the various awards to be presented are prizes for best bowler, best batsman, and most improved cricketer, in the respective categories.
Meanwhile, former national off-spinner and current youth coach at the DCC, Garvin Nedd, who conducted the cricket camp, said that all those non-DCC members who attended the camp are eligible for awards and certificates and they should know that they are invited to the ceremony.
Nedd said that the camp which was a huge success has now become a permanent fixture on the DCC calendar of events.
