(Jamaica Observer) – Prime Minister Bruce Golding says he will address the nation “in good time” on the reasons for his sudden decision to resign as prime minister and leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).
Golding, who has been quiet since Sunday when he informed the nation of his decision, by way of a press release from Information Minister Daryl Vaz, would not say much more to journalists who yesterday sought to ascertain when he will address the matter.
“I will do that in good time,” Golding said with a big smile as he escaped into the inner sanctum of Jamaica House in Kingston.
The prime minister, who has been grieving for his mother Enid Golding, who is to be buried today, has still not given any indication that he would consider rescinding his decision.
Golding, who had earlier addressed the launch of the National Identification System for Jamaicans, lingered a brief moment to greet a Korean delegation and a few members of the audience before retreating beyond the reach of journalists, several of whom sought a comment from him immediately after.
Since the announcement Sunday, the Opposition People’s National Party has been calling on the prime minister to tell the nation the reasons behind his decision.
