The price of the daily edition of Stabroek News will move from $60 to $80 effective October 1, 2011. This increase is necessary to take account of rising costs over the last four years. The price of the newspaper was last increased in January, 2007 to take account of the Value Added Tax.
Readers will also be aware that over the last five years, GPI has lost a large chunk of revenue from the unjust withdrawal of state advertising from the newspaper. To counter this, over the last year GPI commercialized the newspaper’s website which has yielded heartening results and also increased advertising rates.
On November 21, 2011 Stabroek News will celebrate its 25th year of service to the Guyanese public having stuck faithfully to its mandate of ensuring openness, truth and fairness in its reportage.
