CN Sharma was slapped with a four-month suspension following a one-hour meeting with President Bharrat Jagdeo this afternoon.
He told reporters outside the Office of the President that the suspension of his television station, CNS Channel 6, begins on Monday.
He said that the ACB had recommended eight months but the president decided to halve that period as a result of the discussions during the meeting.
Sharma said he was also told that the time could be shortened, but he would have to appeal to the new president following general elections.
The politician said that the suspension will greatly affect his business as he has more that 30 employees on staff.
