The United Force has flayed the suspending of the licence of CNS Channel Six by President Bharrat Jagdeo and says it is prepared to march with the media on this issue.
In a statement today, party leader Valerie Garrido-Lowe said “Our Party fully supports freedom of information and freedom of the press. The United Force in Government guarantees the people of Guyana a greater expansion in radio and TV to satisfy the diverse needs of our population. We feel that our critics support us when they highlight the deficiencies that we may have, thus, strengthening our capability to service the people of Guyana.
“The United Force is prepared to march in solidarity with the media on this issue. We are sympathetic to the thirty plus persons who will lose income and whose families will suffer because of this dastardly act.
“This deliberate policy of the current administration to take away jobs from working citizens and food from their children mouths is viewed by us with utter disgust. We ask that this decision to close Channel 6 be immediately reversed. The voice of the people must be heard if we claim to be a democratic society.”
