A man who was charged for smoking cannabis and assaulting another man was on Thursday placed on $25,000 bail after he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine–Beharry.
The allegation is that on September 27, Ryan Williams unlawfully and maliciously assaulted Hassan Murray. On the same day the man who resides at Lot 35 Industrial Site, Ruimveldt, was also charged with smoking cannabis.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Attorney Nigel Hughes who represented the defendant made an application for bail. The magistrate subsequently placed Williams on $25,000 bail, and the matter was adjourned until October 19 when it will be called at Court Five.
