The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports softball cricket team defeated Floodlights in a thrilling encounter at the Carifesta Avenue Sports Ground Friday evening.
Floodlights batted first and made 219 for 9 in 25 overs with Mark Harold 35, Ricky Deonarain 36, Dru Bahadur 27 and Surendra Nauth 23 being the main scorers.
C James took 3 wickets, while Alfred King, P .Stuart and Moti Lall took two wickets each.
MCYS responded admirably with good partnerships reaching 220 in 24 overs with Marvyn Vyphius, 37, Moti Lall 45 and Carl Brandon a useful 27 coming down to the wire.
However the MCYS female cricketers were not so lucky as they were defeated by 4R Lioness by 10 wickets. Batting first they made 72 all out in the 10th and final over with Chandini Mahadeo capturing three wickets and Shyan Goodluck 2.
4R Lioness hit off the required runs in six overs without the loss of any wicket. Shanessa Williams was unbeaten on 45 while Tracy Glasgow ended on 25 not out.
