Lovers of the game of dominoes will be in for a treat next week with the commencement of a 27-team countrywide competition organized by Mark Walkes.
The competition which commences October 10, will see teams from Georgetown, East Coast, East Bank, West Bank, West Coast, Essequibo, Linden, Berbice and further afield, vying for $370,000 in prize money and trophies.
Each district will be playing within their immediate environs.
The first zone will be played at Strikers Sports Club on Monday evening, while the following day Turning Point Sports Club will host another zone.
Blue Birds Domino Club will be the venue for Wednesday’s action while the Wild Bunch venue will be host Thursday night’s activites.
On Friday F.I.B. will come alive for their zone with Rage Domino Club concluding the first week of action by hosting their zone on Saturday.
The first prize will be $180,000, with the second place team receiving $100,000 and $70,000 and $20,000 going to the third and fourth placed teams respectively.
Entrance fee is pegged at $9000 per team with one re-entry per team. Matches are scheduled to start at 7pm with the usual half hour grace period.
The final will be played at the Girls Guide pavilion, Brickdam on October 23.
