A 40-year-old handyman who allegedly stole in excess of $1 million in items from another man was yesterday remanded to prison after he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation is that between March 29 and 30 at Georgetown, the accused Warren David who resides at Lot 80 Robb Street, Bourda, broke and entered the property of CNN Trading Company and stole one laptop valued $1,000,000 and a WiMAX router valued $50,000, property of Claymond Cummings.
The accused who said that he was a handyman at Nigel’s Supermarket was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him.
When given a chance to speak he told the court, “I was in prison since April and no hearing was given to this matter and only now deh bringing me to court.”
The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the accused is a repeat offender and if bail is granted it is likely that he will repeat an offence of a similar nature.
The magistrate ruled in favour of the prosecution, citing the prevalence of the offence.
The matter was adjourned until October 31 for report and fixture at Court One.
