ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Adrian Griffith will be the lead match referee on duty during the WICB Regional Super50 Championship starting later this month in Guyana.
The former Barbados and West Indies opener is the head West Indies Cricket Board match referee, and he will supervise affairs in nine of the 15 matches in tournament.
The 39-year-old Griffith has been an ICC Regional match referee for the past two years and has supervised matches throughout the ICC Americas region.
Two former Guyana and West Indies fast bowlers Colin Stuart and Reon King will also officiate as match referees.
Stuart will supervise four matches and King will handle two.
All three were part of the WICB match referees and umpires workshop in Jamaica last year prior to the last edition of the Super50 tournament.
“Griffith, King and Stuart join a long and growing list of a wide range of former West Indies players who have been engaged by the WICB to contribute towards the development of the game at all levels,” said a WICB media release on Thursday.
Six umpires will stand in all of the matches. They are Lennox Abraham of Dominica, Gregory Brathwaite of Barbados, Nigel Duguid of Guyana, Goaland Greaves of St Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as the Trinidad & Tobago pair of Peter Nero and Joel Wilson.
