An East La Penitence man was yesterday accused of assaulting a blind man.
Jewellery store worker Darwin McPherson 46, of Lot 75 East La Penitence, was placed on $20,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell.
The prosecutor told the court that the incident occurred around 6:30 pm in the vicinity of Water Street, where McPherson threw an unmentioned substance into the face of Dexter Warren, who is blind. The matter was reported and McPherson was later arrested.
The prosecution did not object to bail but asked that it be set in a substantial amount. The case was subsequently adjourned until November 1.
