Daniel Flores guided Work Force to the pole position in the feature G Class race on Sunday when the Bush Lot United Turf Club held its one-day horse race meet at the club’s facility, Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
The horse won the $250,000 first prize, along with the Banks DIH trophy in front of a fair sized crowd.
Work Force’s win brought the curtains down in the 1400m race in the six-race event ahead of Top of the Line.
The fund-raising event was held to raise funds for the resuscitation of the race track.
Jamaican jockey Andron Findley led Prospectors’ Pride of The Jumbo Jet Stable to an easy victory in the H Class race ahead of Sir Balajie to capture the $120,000 top prize.
On the other hand, Royal Time was adjudged the winner in the I Class 1200m after Prospectors’ Pride was disqualified for weighing less than the stipulated amount to run in the class.
The win was worth $100,000 and a trophy, compliments of Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) Company as Pinky and Natural Mystic settled for second and third respectively. However, Pinky, running out of the Robin Stable returned to win the I-3 race ahead of Natural Mystic, Flying Object and Pleasant Surprise for the $100,000 top prize and trophy, compliments of Solid Gold and GT&T.
Pleasant Surprise then returned in the J and K and Lower Class 1000m sprint event to win the $80,000 top money and the Chen Singh trophy.
She is Royal, Mc Gyver and Valentino settled for second, third and fourth respectively.
The Group One sprint race over 1000m was taken by Gangster that beat Mr. Brakes, Reverse and Shivannie.
Meanwhile, Findley was named the champion jockey.
