African-Guyanese turned out at the seawall bandstand yesterday in traditional garb to commemorate African Holocaust Day or Maafa Day. They chanted the Affirmation of the African Cultural and Development Association and listened to messages and presentations. Accompanied by drumming, they then made offerings at high tide in memory of those who perished at sea during the African slave trade. (Photo by Anjuli Persaud)
