Linden’s Bauxite Flyers Cycling Club has organised a 12-race cycle meet Sunday at the Amelia’s Ward Circuit from 9:30am.
The programme will feature races amongst the seniors, juniors, females, veterans and BMX cyclists.
According to a press release, most of the local cyclists who participated in the recent Ministry of Health/Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, five-stage road race are expected to compete.
In the senior ranks, although Geron Williams and Alonzo Greaves will be absent due to injuries, the competition is expected to be stiff with the likes of Robin Persaud, Marlon “Fishy” Williams, Mark Lewis, Warren “40” Mc Kay and Enzo Williams participating.
Rising stars, Raynauth Jeffrey and Michael Anthony, along with Paul De Nobrega are the favourites for the junior category but another promising and talented youngster, Raul Leal, can cause an upset.
The 14-year-old Leal has been turning in consistently good performances most noticeably a fourth-placed finish in the junior category of the recent five-stage race.
In the female races, expect Hazena Bharrat and Naomi Singh to continue their rivalry.
Cash prizes are at stake.
