October seems to be the lucky month for Deonarine Dinnanauth following his victory in the Sanjay Jewellery Medal Play Golf tournament last weekend, one year after he won another major tournament.
Dinnanauth edged out Mark Lashley on a countback after both golfers shot net scores of 64 in the showdown that attracted 34 players at the Lusignan Golf Club.
Dinnanauth had scored his maiden victory in last year’s Macorp tournament but he doubled his takings this time after he was Nearest to the Pin (NTP).
Hilbert Shields copped third position with a net 65.
Sookram Deosarran recorded the best gross of 73 and also had the longest drive as the players fine-tuned their preparations for the Digicel two-day Classic this weekend and the R1 Vodka sponsored Guyana Open on October 22-23.
President of the Lusignan Golf Club, Brian Hackett, thanked Sanjay Persaud, Proprietor of Sanjay’s Jewellery for his continued support to the development of golf locally.
Hackett said Persaud and his company sponsor at least two tournaments annually and the players are very pleased with the gesture.
Meanwhile, preparations are going apace for the Digicel tournament which will serve as a window dressing for the Guyana Open the following week.
Several overseas players are expected to arrive in Guyana over this weekend and are likely to compete against their local counterparts.
