(Trinidad Express) The Chinese People’s Liberation Army will build a military hospital for the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF).
National Security Minister John Sandy, speaking to reporters yesterday following a TTDF long service award ceremony, said, “Since my time, (the project) has been on the back burner. We have been holding discussions about it and now we thought it the best time to bring it to the front again.”
The TTDF ceremony was held at Knowsley, Queen’s Park West, Port of Spain.
Sandy hinted that the project would get underway, saying that “hopefully in the not too distant future, we may be able to get it going”.
He mentioned, however, that there had not been any “major” talks between Government and the Chinese.
On Wednesday, Sandy mentioned the military hospital to those gathered for a military passing out parade at Teteron Barracks in Chaguaramas.
