John Blanchard, the father accused of murdering two of his children, was remanded to prison this morning by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It was stated in court that the 31-year-old man of Dr Charles Sand Road, Soesdyke armed himself with two knives on the night of October 11, and murdered his son Daniel Blanchard and his stepdaughter Belica while they were asleep.
The defendant was not required to plead to the indictable charge after it was read to him.
The prosecution made an application to have the matter transferred to the Providence Magistrates’ Court but Magistrate Beharry denied the application and remanded Blanchard until November 1 where he will have to make his next appearance in court for report and fixture.
