As preparations for general elections intensify, the Guyana Elections Commission today announced that it has begun printing the official list of electors.
In an update today, GECOM said “The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has commenced the printing of the Official List of Electors (OLE) for the 2011 General and Regional Elections. The OLE is being printed on specially designed water-marked paper procured from CODE Inc. a reputable overseas supplier which deals in sensitive election materials. The OLE will be used for the conduct of the upcoming Elections.
“Electronic copies of the OLE were given by Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission, Dr. Steve Surujbally to Mr. Robert Corbin, Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) and Mr. Donald Ramotar, General Secretary and Presidential Candidate of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C). Electronic copies of the document were likewise given to the other Parties which were represented in the recently dissolved Parliament. Other Political Parties are being provided with copies of the certified OLE upon request.”
