The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) defeated the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on first innings points in their Noble House Seafood’s second division two-day match which ended yesterday at the GDF ground, Camp Ayanganna.
GDF, asked to take first strike weredismissed for 203 in 49.2 overs on Saturday with Shemroy Barrington, 89, Paul Castello, 40 and Kevon Boodie, 39, the principal scorers.
Left-arm spinner Raj Nanan picked up 4-56 off 18.2 overs while off spinner Winston Forrester supported with 3-15 off four overs.
GCC, who had faced only one ball in their innings on Saturday and were yet to record a run, were indebted to Winston Forrester’s 91as they reached 219 for nine, declared off 59 overs.
Treon Forde and Tyrell Tull supported with 37 and 19 runs respectively while Dennis Legay bagged 5-77 off 20 overs.
Barrington chipped in with the ball picking up 2-61 off 15 overs.
GDF, in their second innings were dismissed for 133 in 30.5 overs.
Nanan was again the principal wicket taker with 4-15 off 12 overs.
Set 98 runs for victory, GCC reached 47-1 off only four overs before bad light ended what was turning out to be an enthralling contest.
