A La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara man was stabbed in his chest on Sunday, and his assailant is now on the run.
Dimitri Reece, 20, of Lot 33 La Bonne Intention Onion Field, said that at around 2:30pm, he was on the Beterverwagting main road talking with a friend, when his assailant, known only as `Bow’” rode into him with a bicycle.
Reece said that in reaction to this, he pushed the assailant from the bike. As a result of this, `Bow’ dealt him a stab to the centre of his chest and fled. Reece said that after suffering the blow, he “continue running.” He was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he is now a patient in the High Dependency Unit.
Reece told this newspaper that his assailant is from Beterverwagting but travels to St Maarten on business on occasion. He said the grievance between the two arose two years ago as a result of a cellular phone, which Reece had given his assailant to sell. “I tell he sell de phone and I gon get some money and he can get some,” he said.
However, Reece said he never saw nor heard any further word on the phone or the money. When he later questioned the man, “he de want to fight.” Reece said that after that the man threatened him, but he had no idea that he would hold to the threats.
Reece’s assailant was still being sought up to press time yesterday.
