Police on Friday night recovered a bag containing a pistol and magazine which was dropped by a man who fled on seeing the ranks.
Up to press time last evening, the man had not been caught.
According to a police press release, acting on information received, at about 20:30 hrs ranks of a mobile police patrol confronted a man on the roadway at Ogle Old Road, East Coast Demerara. On seeing the police approaching the man dropped a bag and escaped, the release said.
It added that the bag was searched by the police and a 9 mm. pistol with magazine was found. Investigations are continuing.
