In the trench: The driver of this vehicle, PMM 6839 lost control yesterday as he was turning out of Garnet Street, Kitty onto Vlissengen Road and landed in the trench around 8:30 pm.
According to the driver, Horace Mosley, of Third Street, Alberttown, the turn was taken wider than it should have been and he said this was the reason for the accident. “We ended up in the grass and then slid down into the canal,” he recalled. He and his passenger, who preferred to remain unnamed, were immediately rescued by public-spirited citizens and were transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital. However, when Stabroek News arrived at the GPH, the two men indicated that they were well enough to go home and medical treatment would not have been necessary. (Photo by Anjuli Persaud)
