An accountant with the local European Union office is now a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), after he was struck down by two motorcyclists racing along the Rupert Craig Highway.
Around 11:15 on Tuesday night, Franz Welch, 33, of Lot 1137 Crane Place, South Ruimveldt Park was heading to his vehicle, which was parked close to the seawalls, when one of the motorcycles struck him down, while the other ran over him and sent him under a 4X4 vehicle close by.
Welch’s mother-in-law told this newspaper that she was told that the motorcyclists escaped, but their bikes are currently at the Kitty Police Station.
She said also that the driver of the 4X4 is also at the station assisting with investigations.
Welch, who sustained head injuries as a result of the accident, is in the High Dependency Unit of the GPH.
