Berbice business enterprise A. Ally and Sons has continued their support for junior cyclist Neil Reece by presenting him with a monetary award for his outstanding performance at the recently-concluded Inter-Guiana Games.
The donation also covers Reece’s paerticipation at the upcoming National Schools Cycling, Swimming and Track & Field championships. Reece, who has been riding for the past seven years, has been sponsored by the company for the past four years.
He was the captain of the cycling contingent that journeyed to the neighbouring Republic of Suriname for the IGG. The Guyanese contingent regained the cycling championship they lost two years ago. Reece placed first in the time trial and second in the road race.
Chief Executive Officer of A. Ally and Sons Faizal Ally, in making the presentation to Reece, expressed his company’s delight at being able to sponsor the rider. He told the young cyclist that discipline and hard work must always be his guide, stating that “as long as you have those characteristics you will definitely succeed.”
Reece thanked A. Ally and Sons for putting their faith and trust in his endeavours. He also promised to uphold the high ideals set by the company.
The teenager was also high in praise for his coach Randolph Roberts for the time he spent guiding him through his paces. He also stated that he would try to be a role model for others.
He also thanked all the other sponsors, singling out Attorney-at-Law Mursaline Bacchus and businessman Errol Alphonso for their financial and moral support of the team.
