Dear Editor,
The political parties contesting the national and regional elections have submitted their respective list of candidates. The PPP/C has demonstrated that it has the largest contingent of multi-ethnic support as could be seen from the thousands that accompanied the party‘s head of list and presidential candidate Donald Ramotar to the City Hall.
The fact that some seven political parties have opted to participate in the November 28 poll is indicative of the fact that the democracy is alive and well and that there is full confidence in the democratic processes. This was not the case prior to 1992 when all elections, both at the national and regional levels were massively rigged to ensure a return of the PNC to office.
So far the incumbent PPP/C has demonstrated that it has the capacity to take this country to even greater heights, as could be seen from its elections manifesto which is not only well conceptualized and forward looking but also one that places emphasis on human development. This is consistent with the dreams and aspirations of its founding leaders Cheddi and Janet Jagan who stood fearlessly and resolutely in defence of the working and living conditions of the working people.
Yours faithfully,
Hydar Ally
