(Jamaica Gleaner) Up to late Friday evening, the Mandeville police were working relentlessly to solve the murder of eight-year-old Sadie McLean during an early-morning incident in Manchester.
Sadie died from injuries she sustained when her throat was slashed.
He mother’s throat was also slashed in the attack, but she has survived.
The Mandeville police are tight-lipped on the case, only saying they were awaiting medical evidence to conclude their probe.
However, Sadie’s 35-year-old mother remains hospitalised. Doctors said yesterday that her condition was considered serious.
The Mandeville police report that about 8.45 am neighbours raised an alarm when the eight-year-old child collapsed on the step of a woman’s house, with blood gushing from her throat. She died soon after.
Residents told reporters that the mother of the child was an accountant and reportedly moved to George’s Valley eight months ago.
The police would not confirm nor deny reports that the child’s father was being sought in connection with the crime.
