A man who allegedly broke and entered his reputed wife’s home and stole articles valued over $100,000 was on Friday remanded to prison after he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ court.
The court was told that on October 28 at Georgetown, Courtney Wilson broke and entered the dwelling place of Sherelle Alleyne and stole items which amounted to $106,500, property of the said Alleyne. The defendant was not required to plead to the charge when it was read to him.
When given a chance to speak the defendant said “Your worship I go into the interior to work…I was living with the VC for three years…one day when I called home her little son informed me that she was living with another man while I was away from home… I told my mother to collect back all the things that I buy for her because I really worked hard to buy them…Right now I am very sick, she wrong deal me but now she is feeling the squeeze because she is losing out so she decided to make up all these accusations”.
In presenting the facts prosecutor Luckhai Jairam told the court that on the day in question the VC secured her home and went to visit her sister. On arrival at around 1900 hrs she turned on the light in her house and saw the defendant leaving her home with a big bag about to enter a taxi. The VC promptly made a report at the police station after which an investigation was launched and the accused arrested.
The prosecution objected to bail on the ground that the accused might interfere with the VC and not return to court. The matter was adjourned until November 3.
