A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) campaign and logistics manager Amna Ally yesterday denied that supporters pushed down barricades and stormed into City Hall on Nomination Day, last Thursday.
Responding to a question on the supporters’ behaviour during the party’s weekly press briefing she said, “… I do not know whatyou are talking about the pushing down of barricades. That did not happen. I was there and I did not observe any such behaviour.”
She pointed out that there were a lot of persons demonstrating their support for APNU on Nomination Day and “maybe somebody was not about to deal with the crowd that they would have seen. Indeed there was a large crowd but there was no misbehaving.”
APNU supporters last Thursday afternoon burst through police barricades outside the City Hall gates and ran through the gates flocking the compound. Throughout the afternoon only a small number of party representatives were allowed into the compound to present their lists of candidates and all the parties complied.
