Robb St murder suspect leads cops to rifles

A man who was wanted for questioning about the murder of Clementine Fiedtkou-Parris, the 72-year-old Robb Street, Georgetown resident who was shot and killed in her home, turned himself over to police and led them to the location of two rifles on Tuesday evening, police have said.

The man’s surrender came hours after another man, Roy Jacobs, 34, was charged with murdering Fiedtkou-Parris in an arrangement for money.

Police, in a statement, today said that the man turned himself in at CID Headquarters, Eve Leary, accompanied by his lawyer at about 7:30pm. Subsequent investigations led to a search on a building under construction at Beterverwagting, on the East Coast of Demerara, during which a .22 rifle and a .243 rifle were found, police added.

The man remains in custody assisting with the investigation. On Tuesday, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud had said that apart from Jacobs, three other men were in custody assisting with the probe.

Two men were responsible for Fiedtkou-Parris’ murder on June 30, this year. They had been directed to the woman’s home, after turning up and asking for ‘Auntie.’ As she emerged from her bedroom, which was opposite her front door, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot her several times to the upper part of her body.

The men then escaped in a waiting car while the injured woman was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after. The men did not make any attempts to harm her brother, Fitzroy Fiedtkou, who was sitting on the stairs when they arrived. They also did not demand any valuables, fueling suspicion that Fiedtkou-Parris was the victim of a contract killing.
