Scotiabank presented bursary awards to 12 students in recognition of their outstanding academic performance at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), including Ronaldo McGarrell, who placed 12th. In a press release, the bank said in addition to cash awards, McGarrell as well as Lakeisha Patterson, who earned 10 Grade One, one Grade Two and one Grade Three passes at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination, will each receive a Kindle Touch. The other recipients are Cynthia Songster, Abdool Majid, Jasanie Austin, Nicholas Aziz, Melissa Waldron, Nathifa Williams, Daniel Ally, David Ally, Akeem Adams and Shaniah De La Cruz. The bursaries were based on the percentage the students achieved and sums ranged from $10,000 to $25,000 for 50% and over. This is the first year that the awards were open to employees’ children who wrote the NGSA, the end of term examinations in secondary schools and CSEC. (Photo courtesy of Scotiabank.)
