Murder accused Cyon Collier was escorted back to the Camp Street Prison minutes after 9 last night after the jury deadlocked in the court of Justice Winston Patterson.
Collier, known as ‘Picture Boy’, is charged with murdering Chandrapaul Persaud, 34, called ‘Kero Man,’ on September 30, 2006. Persaud was shot by one of three gunmen who launched an attack on him outside his Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara home, moments after he drove his vehicle into the yard.
After a seven-hour summing up of the evidence of the case, Justice Patterson handed the matter over to the 12-member jury who then exited the courtroom and deliberated for 2 hours, returning at 9:10pm to declare the hung jury.
Collier will have to face a new trial.
